Sewing Machines - History

!: Sewing Machines - History

Hand Sewing has been practised since the early civilisation about 20,000 years ago. This form of art included animal bones as the needles and the first kind of thread was made using animal sinew. However, iron needles were invented in the 14th century.

In the year 1755 the first patent related to mechanical sewing was issued to Charles weisenthal. This patent was issued to him for a needle that he designed for a machine.

Patent for a complete sewing machine was issued in the yr 1790, to English inventor Thomas Saint. However it was not found weather he had actually built a working model of it. Even a reproduction of Saint's invention design did not work.

A not so well functioning automatic machine was invented by a german, Balthasar Krems, for which he did not get patent, in the year 1810

Josef Madersperger, Australian tailor, in the year 1814 was issued a patent to make several attempts for invent for inventing a sewing machine although they all went unsuccessful.

Thomas stone and James Henderson were issued a patent in the year 1804 for a machine that emulated hand sewing. Scott John Duncan was also issued a patent in the same year for an embroidery machine that had many needles. Both these inventions were unsuccessful

John Adams Doge and John Knowles invented a machine in 1818. This was the first American sewing machine that proved to be an unsuccessful venture undertaken by them.

In the year 1830 Bailorarthelemy Thimonnier, a French tailor, invented the first fully working sewing machine. This machine was so successful that Thimonnire was tried to be killed by a group of French tailors who thought that they would become unemployed as a result of his invention. This machine worked by using a thread and a hooked needle which enabled the same chain to stitch used with embroidery.

Walter Hunt, in the yr 1834 created Americas first successful sewing machine. However due to the fear of unemployment of many people, he did not want to get a patent for it. Therefore the first American patent was issued to Elias Howe in the yr 1846. This machine had a eyed needle which was pushed through cloth creating a loop on the opposite side, then a second thread was passed through thee created loop, creating a lockstitch.

For a long time Elias Howe had to struggle getting patent for his invention. His innovation was used by others for their own inventions. Issac Singer invented the up and down motion mechanism.

Commercial Embroidery Sewing Machines

!: Commercial Embroidery Sewing Machines

If you are searching for a commercial embroidery sewing machine to purchase, consider reading this article to help you better decide on the best unit that will suit your specific requirements. Consider these as helpful tips for your customized embroidery business.

Before anything else, it will be helpful to explain the basic processes involved in creating embroidery when using commercial embroidery sewing machines. The first step is to create a design, buy a design file online, or download designs online that are free. If you choose to take advantage of the free designs available, ensure that the file format is supported by the sewing machine. If the format is not compatible with your unit, fret not. There are file conversion programs also available in the internet for you to use. Then second step is to edit the chosen design. For instance, you can scale, rotate, duplicate, or even split the design to your liking. The third step is to load the finished work to your embroidery machine. A helpful note in fabric use is to make sure that they are stabilized. This means that you should use stabilizers that can be used on a variety of fabrics like nylon, mesh, vinyl, etc. The last step is to start the embroidery using the machine. Depending on the design's details and size, embroidery time can take a few minutes to even a few hours.

In the market today, there are generally two types of commercial embroidery sewing machines. The first machine type is for embroidery only and the other type is for a combination of embroidery and sewing. Computerized models allow the sewer to produce more complex designs than their older counterparts. Newer models are also more time-efficient since they have speeds that are much faster than the older models. Moreover, the new units come with LCD screens and touch screens with some built-in designs and patterns, colors, and fonts already. These new models come in handy with instructional videos in DVD or CD format.

The cost of commercial embroidery sewing machines vary greatly depending on a number of factors: the brand, the features, the type of embroidery machine, and the speed. Cheap commercial embroidery sewing machines are sold within the 0 price range. Newer models that come with high-tech digital software can go from ,000 to ,000. Take your requirements into consideration before you decide. If you don't really need a lot of features since your business does not require it, do not splurge on a super expensive machine with all those unnecessary features. Be wise and practical by choosing one that will best fit your set of work requirements.

Commercial embroidery sewing machines are available for purchase online. It is highly recommended that you check out good deals in the world wide web before scouting out deals in local stores. Most bargains are made available only online. Take advantage of these and save a lot of money along the way. Happy shopping!

Home Embroidery Sewing Machines - For Family Or Home Business

!: Home Embroidery Sewing Machines - For Family Or Home Business

Home embroidery sewing machines are a boon for family stitching and embroidery or for small home boutique business. Unlike industrial purpose embroidery and sewing machines, they are small and portable in size, easy to operate and affordable in terms of prices. They combine the functions of both sewing and embroidery thus ruling out the need for having separate machines for both. At the same time, the computerized embroidery function using digitized design programs allow you to let your creativity flow over your designs and patterns.

Essential Information: If you are planning to get a home embroidery machine, you should know some essential operations required to carry out embroidery using it. First, you will have to get digitized designs available with all leading stores. You can edit these designs or make your own designs if you have the knowledge of computer graphics. The designs come in many different formats and you will have to take care that the one you choose is compatible with your machine.

After getting your design ready you will have to install it either on your home embroidery machine itself or the computer attached to it. When the design is installed the computer will indicate. The next step is to prepare the fabric using a stabilizer if required. Stabilizer is an additional piece of material that you put under or on the fabric to give it strength and stiffness for good embroidery. Stabilizers are also of several type and your users' manual will tell you about the type needed for particular fabrics.

After stabilizing the fabric you place it on the hoop of your machine and refit the hoop onto the embroidery arm, thread the needle and start the machine. The machine stops after finishing one color of the design. Then you thread the needle with the next color and thus the process goes on. When the embroidery is finished, your home sewing embroidery machine stops, you take out the fabric and tear away or dissolve or iron out the stabilizer and your fabric is ready.

Versatility and ease of switchover are very important when you chose a home embroidery sewing machine that gives you the best of both embroidering and sewing. Brother home embroidery sewing machines are excellent in this respect. They have large sewing and embroidering areas, easy to edit screens and insightful software that easily switch it back and forth between embroidery and sewing functions.
